The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for loved ones, living or deceased, is a beautiful and meaningful part of our Catholic tradition. In our Catholic Parish, there are many requests for scheduling such Mass intentions. Holy Trinity has only a certain amount of Mass intention opportunities. The following procedures have been implemented in order to accommodate the numerous requests in a reasonable and fair manner. Please read these guidelines carefully.
Please note the following guidelines for Mass intention requests:
1. To insure consistent and fair opportunity for all desiring an intention for a loved one, we will schedule no more than 3 (three) months in advance and only 3 intentions can be booked per family in that three month period.
2. Requests will be honoured on a first-come, first-serve basis in the order in which the request is received at the Parish Office. Please do not request a Mass beyond the 3 month period. For example to request a Mass in the month of April you must request no earlier than February 1st. A request in January for a Mass in April will not be considered a valid request.
3. Mass requests will be granted as close to the requested date within the 3 month period, however if it is not possible to comply with the primary request, the next closest date will be scheduled.
4. As a Parish we will make every effort to accommodate a Mass within 30 days of the passing of a loved one, and on or near the first anniversary of a person’s death. One Mass time each month will be kept open so that the recently deceased can be remembered soon after their death.
5. Mass intentions may be requested in person in the Parish office or by telephone or email. However as to not overwhelm the office, on the 1st business week of every month requests will not be taken in person only over the phone or email. You may leave a message for an intention or a call back.
6. Mass intentions are a suggested donation of $10 each and Mass Intention cards are $1 each.
7. Mass intentions may be requested for Sundays, most holidays and most weekdays throughout the year.
8. One Mass every Sunday must be scheduled for the intentions of our parishioners known as “Pro Populo” (For the People) as required by Canon Law and diocesan statute
9. SPECIAL DAYS: Mass intentions cannot be scheduled for:
· Mothers’ Day when the intentions will be “all mothers of the parish, living and deceased”;
· Father’s Day when the intention will be “all fathers of the parish, living and deceased”;
· All Souls’ Day (November 2) when the intention will be “All the faithful departed”.
10. If for an unforeseen circumstance a Mass cancellation occurs, the intention for the Mass will be rescheduled on the next available opening.
